Girgaum Chaupati, commonly known as Chaupati , is one of the most famous public beaches adjoining Marine Drive in Girgaum area of Mumbai, India. This Beach is famous for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations when hundreds of people from all over the city come to immerse the idols of Lord Ganapati in Arabian Sea. Besides it's religious importance, the Chaupati beach  is famous for its Mumbai 'street food', notably bhelpuri, pani puri, shevpuri, chaats, and pav bhaji. It is a favorite meeting place for youngsters who gather there to hangout  and cool off.  Many tourists make it a point to visit the beach when they come to Mumbai. Like most other famous beaches in Mumbai, India, this beach gets very crowded in the evenings and weekends.
